Joellen Sommer serves as a hands-on interim/part time CFO/Controller. She works closely with clients on a full range of financial, accounting management and strategic needs—from developing policies and procedures to preparing financial statements and working with their external accountants for a variety of companies and non-profits.
Joellen actively manages all aspects of clients’ finances, including budgeting and planning, accounting practices, process improvements, selecting and implementing new software, cash forecasting, developing management reporting, staff training and development and preparing financial statements and schedules for auditors. Her approach is hands-on, proactive and straight forward.
Before starting Your Own CFO, Joellen held senior financial and operations roles at The Nielsen Company, The New York Times, Greater Than One and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Joellen earned her M.B.A. from Zicklin School of Business. She is licensed as a CPA in New York a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor and a Certified Fraud Examiner
